About HDPE Geomembrane
HDPE geomembrane is a continuous flexible barrier made from high-density polyethylene resin with carbon black, antioxidants and UV stabilisers. Its extremely low permeability blocks liquid migration, making it the primary containment layer in municipal solid waste landfills, tailings impoundments, biogas digesters, reservoirs and tank farms.
Smooth membrane is used on flat base areas where welding is straightforward; textured membrane (single- or double-sided, asperity height typically ≥0.25 mm) is specified on slopes to raise interface friction and reduce sliding risk. Thickness is selected by application, head or surcharge, chemical aggressiveness and subgrade condition, and verified against the current standard and mill test reports.

Which thickness should I specify?
By application: landfill base and slopes typically ≥1.5 mm (≥2.0 mm for high stacks or strict requirements), closure covers around 0.75 mm, biogas digesters 1.0–1.5 mm, wastewater ponds 1.5–2.0 mm, reservoirs 0.75–1.5 mm, aquaculture ponds 0.5–1.0 mm. Final thickness must follow the project design documents.
Smooth or textured membrane?
Smooth on flat bases; textured on slopes. Textured surfaces raise the interface friction angle between membrane and adjacent layers, which is the key control against sliding under load or rapid drawdown.
Can you produce to other specifications?
Yes. OEM production to buyer-specified indices (e.g. GRI-GM13 type requirements), custom width, thickness, printing and roll length is available. Provide required indices, test methods and acceptance criteria when inquiring.
